On Saturday January 31 Mother Sun, Seconds and Janky Eyed Jury played to a sold out crowd at the iconic Kami Inn. Needless to say, the place was packed and everybody was up for a party. I missed the opening act Janky Eyed Jury but caught all of Seconds.

Seconds played an old school punk rock set, with shorter songs and lots of energy. They obviously had lots of fans. There was plenty of well deserved cheering and applause for their set.

The headliners, Mother Sun, closed the show with some of the newer songs from their rapidly growing catalogue. They were formerly a quartet, but now are going the trio route. Jared Doherty plays guitars and vocals, Alex Ward plays bass and a shiny white keyboard, while Jared Wilman holds down the drum chair.

Much the same as the previous band, they played to a very appreciative audience. It is difficult to pin a genre down, put they dabble in psychedelic rock, pop, progressive rock and even a bit of jazz. Their songs are more intricate than most local bands and they play very well together.

Their set list included “Giant,” “Super Hero,” “Chocolate,” “City,” “Poison” and others. They played great, the audience had a fun time and the Kami once again survived a fine night of music.
