  1. Are you from Kamloops? If not, where are you from and how did you come to be in Kamloops?

No, I am originally from India. I moved to Kamloops to pursue a post-baccalaureate diploma in Human Resource Management at Thompson Rivers University.
  2. Are you a student volunteer? If so, what are you studying and does volunteering at the station help with your studies?

Yes, I am a student volunteer. I am studying Human Resource Management, but I also have a background in law. My work at CFBX helps me develop public speaking, communication, and engagement skills, which are useful in both HR and law.
  3. Are you a community volunteer? How do you think volunteering at the station supports your engagement with the Kamloops community?

It helps me explore and promote local businesses, musicians, and a lot of other allied parties in Kamloops.
  4. What is it about volunteering in general that appeals to you?

Volunteering gives me a sense of purpose and a platform to express myself. It also allows me to give back to the community, learn from others, and share stories that might not otherwise be heard.
  5. What other hobbies and interests do you have outside of doing campus/community radio?

I love playing football and exploring new music. I also enjoy engaging in philosophical debates and discussing social issues.
  6. What is your show about? What would a listener hear when they tune in?

My show, Unfiltered with RJ Abu, is not a monologue—it is more of a talk show that incorporates third-language music. I invite guests from all walks of life and discover newer sides to them through discussions.
  7. What makes your show unique? Why do you think listeners are interested in your show?

My show is bold and unfiltered. It isn’t just about music—it’s about life, perspectives, and honest discussions. I bring a mix of humour, philosophical questioning, and personal experiences that resonate with a wide audience.
  8. What does campus/community radio mean to you?

It’s a platform for authentic expression, where voices that might not be heard in mainstream media can shine. It fosters community, diversity, and creativity.
  9. What shows at CFBX do you like and listen to regularly? Why do you enjoy them?

I often listen to Jeremy’s show, Anime’d in Japan (Sundays 2-4 PM). I sometimes seek beforehand approval from him to sit with him in the booth while he conducts the show live.
  10. Name an artist you discovered through your time at CFBX that you’d like others to know about.

    Chloe Doucet.
  11. Is there a local musician that you would like people to pay more attention to? Why?

LooPS. They bring fresh, unique sounds to the music scene.
  12. Do you enjoy attending live concerts? Why? Can you tell us about your favorrite live concert that you’ve been to?

I have never been to a live concert.
  13. What do you hope to do with your show in the future? What direction do you see your show moving?

I want to continue making my show engaging and thought-provoking. I aim to feature more guests, dive deeper into social issues, and introduce new music to my audience. I would also like to structure the show better. Ideally, I’d love to expand its reach and maybe even transition it into a podcast or a larger media project.
