Hot Night, Rib Night and Rock Night Make For a Perfect Saturday in Kamloops

In Kamloops BC August 9-11 is the big weekend that combines Hot Night in the City and Ribfest. Hot Night is on Saturday, while the Ribfest runs from Friday through Sunday. Both events have live bands throughout the day. During Hot Night in the City huge crowds admire the classic cars on Victoria Street. For Ribfest even larger crowds jam into Riverside Park to get their fill of ribs and various other meat and liquid beverages. I wandered through the section of Victoria Street that was blocked off for the car show and then went to Riverside Park for some food and to hear some music. I got a quick glimpse of the Kings of Nashville performing at the corner of 4th Ave and Victoria Street.

They sounded great and were surviving the heat. Then it was on to Ribfest. My quest for ribs, brisket, beans and coleslaw was satisfied by a combo plate that ran around $39.

It was very good and quite filling. Just after I got my food, a local band called Wild One took the stage. They played songs from the 80s and 90s and a few popular tunes from other eras.

This was my first time seeing them and really enjoyed their performance, and stage presence. So did the audience.

After a break, OC/DC, an AC/DC tribute band from California, took the stage. The park was quite full and they rocked out to classic AC/DC songs to the delight of the crowd.

OC/DC are talented, seasoned professionals and they covered nearly every hit by AC/DC and gave a good stage performance, too.

I haven’t seen that many people dancing in front of the stage at Riverside Park in a long time. It was a fun afternoon/evening during the biggest day of the summer in Kamloops.
