Large Crowds Celebrate the Return of Ribfest

After the prerequisite COVID absence, Ribfest returned to Kamloops last weekend. August 5th through the 7th, saw plenty of hot weather, cold beer, awesome food and plenty of great live music in Riverside Park. I took in some of the local music performances and sampled the wares throughout the weekend.

Friday I attended shows by Jim Malahoff & Friends, the Angie Heinze Band, InVerse, Half Step Down and Someone to Blame. Due to prior commitments and the heat, Saturday I only saw Lockdown, Jam Presents, and Old Friends. Lastly on Sunday I made it to performances by The Eh! Team, Full of Excuses, Six Degrees and Coalmine’s Basement.

All were local bands and they did a great job of displaying their wonderful talent. Most were cover bands. Dave Coalmine played a set of originals during his show and they were well received by the large audience.

There were a variety of genres performed including country, metal, classic rock, rock from the 80s and 90s and the Jam Presents gave us a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon.” It was all good fun and the audiences appreciated our local musicians.

Ribfest once again provided a well needed weekend of fun and food, with the proceeds going to the Kamloops Rotary Club, so they can continue doing good deeds in town,
