Music in the Park Returns!!

Music in the Park returned after a short-lived comeback from the Covid pandemic, in 2021. It will included musical performances from July 1-August 31 at the Rotary Bandshell in Riverside Park. The first show I attended was the Jeremy Kneeshaw set on July 10.

On July 10 at Riverside Park Jeremy Kneeshaw and his band performed in the Music in the Park series. The talented band consists of Jeremy on lead guitar and vocals, Brendan Methot on bass and backing vocals, Dylana Kneeshaw on rhythm guitar and new additions on the percussion side from veterans Sandro Cuzzetto on drums and Pat Ebert on all things percussion.

My favourite of the originals performed were Blueberry Wine, where the percussion section was let loose to do an incredible jam and Break My Heart.

The band rocked out to covers of Lynyrd Skynryd’s They Call Me The Breeze, Litle Wing by Jimi Hendrix and Superstition from Stevie Wonder. Kneeshaw and band also, showcased their country and blues chops with some Johnny Cash and Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes.

There was a very large turnout for this popular local musician and an encore was provided after continuous applause.

Then, on July 13 Kamloops rockers Last Child appeared at Music in The Park in place of the Beyond Brass Big Band, who were not available.

Last Child played an eclectic, enjoyable mix of classic rock hits which included three Black Crowes tunes and ran the alphabetical gamet from AC/DC to ZZ Top with stops on Steve Miiler, the Doobie Brothers, Van Morrison and others.

They ended the evening with Ramble On by Led Zeppelin and Girls Got Rhythm by AC/DC. Last Child, consisting of a skillful and accomplished group of veterans, included Scott Skulmoski and Gary Mockford, alternating on lead and rhythm guitars and lead and backing vocals, along with Richard Graham on drums and vocals and Darren Jones on bass, were very well received by the crowd who attended on this hot evening. They will be playing their regularly scheduled show on July 18 and have promised some rock ‘n’ roll fireworks.
