On Friday July 8 the Lindy in the Loops Swing Dance Society brought in the Grand Slam Jazz Band from Vancouver. They had a fun night of dancing to live music. Grand Slam played a variety of danceable tunes from the traditional jazz, spiritual and swing genres. The band included Ben MacRae on reeds and vocals, Kayden Gorden, trumpet, Aaron Lee, trombone, Tyler Murray, drums along with Gary Raddysh on Sousaphone and Strauss Whiteside on keys.

They played a selection of music from the 1930s and ’40s that included such classics “I Got Rhythm,” “Take the ‘A’ Train,” “Satin Doll,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “St. James Infirmary,” “Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho” and many others.

The dance floor was filled all night and the dancers responded with much applause after each selection. Check out the Lindy In the Loops Swing Dance Society’s Facebook page for more info on upcoming dances and lessons.
