Kamloops has a new sports team, the baseball Kamloops NorthPaws of the West Coast League. Due to a rain-out on Wednesday, they played their first game on Thursday June 2, 2002. They won that first game, with their first home run, (a walk-off homer at that) in the 10th inning of the first game of a doubleheader (7 inning game). What excitement! The local band Blackdaze entertained the audience behind Norbrock Stadium with their Black Sabbath tribute show.

They started playing after the 7th inning, but the game went into extra innings and they continued playing for a while after the game was over.

It was a nice mixture of sport, music and beer and with the bonus of the Northpaws winning, a good time was had by all.
