1) How long have you been doing your radio show?

I have been this radio show since October 2019. So I have been this radio show 4 months so far.

At first, I started volunteering as part of a class at Thompson Rivers University.

head shot2) What made you want to volunteer with CFBX?

I liked to listen to the radio when I was a child, so I have a couple of favorite show in Japan and Korea. After I came to Canada, I have been listening to the radio a lot. Then I found that flyer about CFBX at the University. After that, I was in my service learning class, and I decided to volunteer at CFBX.

3) What is your show about? What can we hear in your show?

My show is about sharing information about different cultures and international music in English. I invite people who came from different countries almost every week. Every show, I have a one specific topic, such as a national food, weather in their country orthe tourist destinations. Also, I play the songs which are my guest’s favorite. So, the listeners can have the information about the other countries’ cultures.

4) What makes your show unique? Why should we tune in?

I invite a different guest every time, and talk about one topic, so listeners can have information about different cultures. I believe that it is valuable when we can talk with people have different backgrounds. Having new information can expand your point of view. I think that living in a diverse environment, it is important to know about other cultures and have open mind for them.

5) What was the best show you have done to date?

I liked the show which I did on November 22th. I did this show with my Korean friend and talked about Korean food culture compared with Japan and Canada. We made the script together, and that took a long time. I have experience in living in Korea, so we could provide a lot of Korean and Japanese culture and some information about tourist destinations. And after finished this show, we had lots of good comments. My Korean friend’s family listened in her home this show even though their time was midnight.

6) Name an artist you have discovered in the past year you think your audience should know about?

One Ok Rock is a band which I would love to introduce for the listeners. I have liked this band since I was in high school. When I invited my Japanese friend, he told that now this band has written many songs in English. Their songs have a very strong message. Now they are doing live concerts in U.S. and other places too. When I listen this band’s lyrics, I always am encouraged by thier songs.

7) What was a recent live concert or show you have been to that you enjoyed and why you enjoyed it?

There is the restaurant called Bold in the Sahali Mall, and they have karaoke every Thursday night. The customers can listen local singer’s songs and do performances too. I participated the Karaoke a few times.

Also, I went to Riverside Park to participate in live concerts in the summer. There is a live concert every day during summertime in Riverside Park. Especially, on Canada Day, we can watch a lot of performances.

Finally, there is another place in Kamloops, called  The Art we Are. They have a musical event every second Wednesday.

8) Are there any local artists, writers or musicians that you think your audience should know about?

Because I play songs from around the world, I do not know so much about local bands. I would like to know about local artists this year.

9) Name another show on CFBX you enjoy and why you enjoy it.

Bollywood Love Hour (Fridays 12 Noon-1 PM) with Bollywood Love Angel Miss Rubie Ocean.

I enjoy this show because the host provides a lot of Bollywood music for people especially who came from East Asia. I like Bollywood music a lot, so I like to listen this show.

10) What are your plans for your show in the next year?
I want to invite more people who are newcomers to Kamloops. I want to connect Kamloops people and people who immigrated recently, and listen their culture. Also, I want to know about the Kamloops culture more, so I would like to go the live concerts in Kamloops and get to know more about local bands. And I want to provide valuable information about Intercultural issues in the next year too.
