The Margit Sky Project performed at their weekly Tuesday “residency” show at the Rock’n Firkin Sports Pub and Grill this week. The trio played a selection of cover and original tunes from 7-9 PM. While sports and particularly pool is popular in the bar, there was an evening audience in for dinner, drinks and music that appreciated their show. Guitarist Rod Bandara mentioned that they had played some ethnically diverse tunes that evening.
Bandara on guitar and vocals, along with his partner Margit Gossage, also on guitar and vocals and bassist Ken Kobayashi, make up this talented trio.
I really enjoyed their version of the Tragically Hip’s Fiddler’s Green, and the more ethnically diverse tunes, which included, “If I Ever Get Out of This World Alive” by the Celtic punk band Flogging Molly, and their own composition “Fresh Off the Reservation.” You can catch the Margit Sky Project every Tuesday at the Rock’n Firkin at 7 PM.
