Paul Kype and Texas Flood appeared at the Blue Grotto on the weekend of November 22/23rd. The trio of Paul Kype on lead guitar and lead vocals, Mike Wedge on bass and vocals and Jerry Adolphe on drums, played a sweltering blues rock show that had the audience, dancing, jumping and playing air guitar along with the band.
This made for a really fun atmosphere. Some of the many highlights were ‘Miss You’ by the Rolling Stones and, of course, “Pride and Joy” and “Love Struck Baby” by the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan, whose 1983 album, the band is named after.
They also played a number of originals from the various albums they have recorded over the years. A nice moment occurred when Kype announced that the drummer, Jerry Adolphe, had recently been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame with his band mates from the band, Chilliwack (Bill Henderson, Ed Henderson, and Gord Maxwell). Beer was cold, dancers were lively and the band was hot. Just another great, hard rocking night at the Grotto.
