Iron Road Jazz Band Gets Its Name

Iron Road Brewing hosted it’s usual monthly jazz show on Sunday September 29th. The Jazz Notes radio show from CFBX-FM and Iron Road Brewing combined to run a contest to name their house band. Over 40 entries were received. A panel of four judges picked the entry by Brian Henderson of Kamloops to be the best. The band was introduced as The Malt Men.

For this performance the band was joined by Monik Nordine of Victoria on alto saxophone. They played a selection of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Duke Ellington and other tunes.

Another highlight was their version of “Have You Met Miss Jones.” Jazz shows are rare in Kamloops and these fine musicians put on a great performance.
