The Bassment, in Aberdeen Heights, hosted Winnipeg’s singer songwriter Cat Jahnke on June 13th. She has been a perennial favourite with CFBX since appearing, at the now defunct, Players Lounge, many years ago.
Jahnke (pronounced “yank-ee”) regaled the audience with songs from her considerable catalogue and some unique covers. She is an award-winning composer and has had her work showcased in film, television and online media. Jahnke, also gave a crash course in looping and conducted a few sing-alongs.
Besides vocals. Cat Jahnke, played keyboards, guitar, ukulele, and drums. Much of her music contains heartfelt lyrics that explore the human condition, but her Monkees medley got a few chuckles and hearty applause. She plans on releasing her latest album in October.
Bo Aganaba, a recent addition to the Kamloops music scene opened the show with a short set of originals. He was very well received. It was a beautiful night of music in The Bassment.
