The Yale County Jug Band is rapidly becoming a moveable party and they brought that party to the Barside Lounge & Grill at Chances Casino on Friday November 16th. The band played songs from their self-titled release and added some new ones for good measure.
The five-piece group played and sang the night away for a large Friday night crowd. They obviously enjoyed the show, dancing and clapping throughout the night. Audience favourites included “Brianna,” “Big House” and “Rodeo.” The Yale County Jug Band has a solid, rootsy sound. It is one of the few bands in the interior that contains a double bass and a washboard.
Another unique aspect of YCJB is that everyone in the band provides vocals at one time or another and they harmonize very, well together. Gerry Sherk and Marie Jackson trade off on the lead vocals. Guitars are provided by Sherk and Justin Bentley, while Keith Elliott is on the washboard and smilin’ Kelly Bartsch handles the bass duties. It was a fun night ant Chances. Eventually the party had to shut down, but the audience left the casino feeling like winners.
