Hi everyone, we’ve had another busy month here at CFBX. We’ve got a lot on the go and it’s time to fill you in.
First, we’re happy to air the first half hour from the TRU Chapter of Pro Bono Students of Canada. Three law students joined us last month to produce a half hour show on legal information, and it will be airing on Friday, December 8th at 12:30 PM. We’ll get another half hour from them next semester, making a full hour show that you’ll be hearing in regular rotation in the spring. This is just one of the projects CFBX is available to help out with with TRU students, and we’re always happy to see students include CFBX in their studies.
Second, we’ve got our Yearender coming up on December 17th. Every year, we take time at the end of our broadcast year to look back on the year past. We’ll be broadcasting live from Noon to 8 PM on Sunday, December 17th. As usual, we’ll have a rotation of hosts throughout the day, plus a wide array of guests, from on air personalities and DJs, to local musicians, leaders and cultural figures. We’ll be playing some Christmas music and airing some of our favourite music from the past year. Tune in, it’s always lots of fun.
On the 18th, we’ll be taking a two week break from live broadcasting to give our volunteers and staff a break for the holidays. We’ll have lots of programming for you throughout the holidays though. We’ll have special programming throughout the day, with some of our best syndicated programming and our mix of local music and Canadian Christmas music overnight. We’ll be back with live programming on the morning of Tuesday, January 2nd.
Lastly, our new shows coming in this month:
Fridays 2-3 PM: Around About Town, community issues with Pam
Saturday 1-2 PM: TBA, eclectic music with Nada
Remember, we’re always looking for new volunteers to help out on air and off, and we especially need morning hosts. We’d love to have a host that can speak French to do a French language show. We also need hip-hop and classical hosts. If you want to get involved, just call us at 250-377-3988 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more info. Drop by the station at House 8 on the TRU campus and we’ll be happy to show you around.
See you next month!
